In-Line Magnetic Separation Purifies Powder and Bulk Products
In many situations, the simplest solutions can be the most effective. When customers are installing a magnetic separation solution into your powder and bulk facility, they are often looking for a product that is low-impact and non-disruptive to the greater process. Bunting’s gravity, pneumatic, and center-flow in-line magnets provide a high level of magnetic separation while integrating seamlessly into the existing manufacturing environment. The powerful rare earth magnets that come standard with Bunting’s three different varieties of in-line magnetic separators reach out into product and capture ferrous magnetic contaminants, trapping them tightly to their surface and preventing any wipe-off from occurring.
Bunting’s in-line magnets provide a high level of magnetic separation while integrating seamlessly into your manufacturing environment.
For gravity free-fall applications, Bunting offers gravity in-line magnets designed to enclose a powerful plate magnet within round, sloping spouting. When the spouting is angled no more than 60° from horizontal, these magnets are at their most effective. Gravity in-line magnets are excellent for applications with limited space, and their tapered step magnet design combined with the inherent power of the magnet itself makes these magnets effective and easy to integrate.
Bunting’s pneumatic in-line magnets are similarly effective, designed for use in dilute phase pneumatic conveying systems. Bunting has made every effort to facilitate easy installation of this product, offering optional factory-supplied compression couplings to expedite the installation process so that customers may rapidly reap the benefits of magnetic separation in their pneumatic systems. The plate magnet within the housing is surrounded by full-flow architecture that ensures an unobstructed product stream, and the tapered step design of the plate magnet prevents trapped metal from being wiped off by product flow.
Bunting also offers center-flow in-line magnetic separators, meant for removing ferrous fine particles as well as larger pieces of tramp metal from dry particulates traveling through dilute-phase pneumatic conveying lines. The design of center-flow in-line magnetic separators features a conical magnet suspended in the center line of the housing. This magnetic cartridge is tapered, with exposed poles, and has a stainless steel “nose cone” which directs material flow around the magnet. The tapered poles of this magnet allow it to collect fine ferrous particles from the direct air stream, and the magnet’s trailing end is an active pole that can collect any tramp metal that has been swept down the cartridge. The shell of a center-flow in-line magnet has been designed to provide dry powders with long magnetic exposure, ensuring maximum magnetic separation.
