Power Demonstration of the ElectroMax Crossbelt Magnet
Ever since its initial launch in May 2019, Bunting’s ElectroMax Crossbelt Magnet has proven itself to be extremely popular. Even throughout the COVID-19 crisis of 2020, the ElectroMax Crossbelt Magnet remained in high demand. Increasingly, mobile plant, mining, and concrete recycling companies sought out the air-cooled ElectroMax Crossbelt Magnet due to its lightweight design and incredibly high magnetic separation performance.
ElectroMax Demonstrations: Seeing is Believing
Don’t let the compact size and lightweight design of the ElectroMax fool you. The ElectroMax is incredibly effective at separating out even the most difficult pieces of tramp ferrous metal. In the below video, our Bunting-Redditch engineers carried out and filmed a series of separation tests. These tests demonstrate the ElectroMax’s ability to separate many different sizes and weights of ferrous tramp metal material.
The ElectroMax in this video demonstration is equipped with an armored belt. This belt is designed for arduous, high-wear environments, and significantly reduces belt wear and extends longevity of the belt.
Test #1: Small Nuts and Washers
Often, smaller pieces of metal contamination are more difficult to separate than larger pieces of metal contamination. In this test, ferrous metals were placed on a skid board, then pulled underneath the magnet in order to simulate the process of material being conveyed. In this test, the simulated magnet suspension height was positioned to be between approximately 13” and 15 ½“. In this test, the ElectroMax was able to perfectly lift and separate all of the ferrous metals placed on the skid board.
Test #2: Large, Heavy Tramp Metal
In order to successfully lift and separate large, heavy ferrous metals, there must be a considerable amount of magnetic force applied. In the second test, the ElectroMax was tasked with lifting and separating a 14lb lump hammer head and an awkwardly shaped broken piece of metal weighing 22 lbs. Again, the magnet’s suspension height was positioned to be between approximately 13” and 15 ½“. The weight of this tramp metal proved to be no problem for the ElectroMax, as it was once again able to easily lift and separate the material.
Test #3: Medium Sized Tramp Iron
In test #3, the ElectroMax easily lifted and separated two heavy, awkward ferrous drill bits.
Test #4: Large Ferrous Ring
Finally, Bunting engineers sought to find out if the ElectroMax could effectively lift a large, 18 ½ lb ferrous ring. This piece was expected to be difficult to separate, as the magnetic attractive force would only be able to be induced in the outer ferrous metallic component. Additionally, the suspension height in this test was raised to 17 ½ “ – 19 ½ “. Even under these more difficult conditions, the ElectroMax was able to successfully lift and separate the ferrous ring.
ElectroMax Power
The tests carried out by the Bunting-Redditch team are applicable to all ElectroMax crossbelt magnets, whether they are sold in the United Kingdom or the United States. These tests demonstrate the ElectroMax’s ability to separate an enormous range of tramp ferrous metals, despite maintaining a lighter, more compact design in comparison to other equipment with similar separation capabilities.
Bunting has many different types of permanent and electromagnetic crossbelt magnets, and these crossbelt magnets integrate excellently with other magnetic separation and metal detection equipment from Bunting.
