High Intensity Magnetic Separation Conveyors are Crucial to Auto Recycling Industry
Bunting’s High Intensity Separation Conveyor®, or the Bunting HISC®, is a critical piece of equipment in the auto recycling industry. These magnetic separation conveyors have been specially designed to achieve maximum separation of stainless steel and ferrous dirt, particularly in ICW wire-cleaning applications that are a key part of the greater auto recycling industry. To accomplish this goal, the HISC combines extremely high gauss fields, neodymium rare earth magnets, and a field-tested design created using Magnetic Finite Element Design Software.
The HISC was initially developed using Bunting’s Magnetic Finite Element Design software technology, and it is the first piece of equipment of its design in the auto recycling industry. During the design process, Bunting engineers prioritized attracting, holding, and extracting paramagnetic work-hardened 300 stainless steel metal. This paramagnetic metal is one of the most common types of metal contamination seen in ICW applications, along with very fine ferrous dirt particles. However, paramagnetic stainless steel and fine ferrous dirt are not only the most common types of contaminants in ICW applications, they are also the most difficult to remove. By combining the power of neodymium rare earth magnets and extremely high gauss fields, the HISC is able to effectively, efficiently, and reliably remove stainless steel and fine ferrous contamination from your material.
The HISC can be used to recover metals in both wire pre-chopping and wire post-chopping ICW wire separation applications. When these magnetic separation conveyors are used in pre-chopping applications, the HISC protects chopper knives by removing stainless steel and ferrous dirt contamination from the product stream before they have the opportunity to come into contact with chopper knives. As a result, chopper knives are subject to less wear and tear, which leads to higher throughput and profitability with less knife maintenance and downtime. When the HISC is used in post-chopping applications, it increases the purity and profitability of your recycled end product by removing any fine ferrous contamination and stainless steel.
The HISC can be used in many aspects of the auto recycling industry apart from ICW wire-cleaning applications. It is of similarly high value when used in ASR Zurik stainless steel recovery and purification applications, waste electronic and electrical equipment recycling, separating stainless steel in appliance recycling, and more.
