Three High Sensitivity Metal Detectors for Diapers
In 2020, an Egyptian paper mill purchased three meTRON 07 CI Metal Detectors from Bunting to combat against metal in disposable baby diapers. By mounting the metal detection on conveyors, the company was able to detect and remove metal contamination in the tissue paper that is used as filler in the manufacture of the baby diapers.
The three meTRON 07 CI Metal Detectors are identical in size and specification and are able to detect a wide range of metal contamination. Due to their high sensitivity, they can easily identify ferrous metal (1.75-2.0mm), non-ferrous metal (2.0-2.5mm), and stainless steel (2.5-3.0mm).
The meTRON 07 CI Metal Detectors for this application were constructed in a closed tunnel design built in 304 stainless steel with an IP66 ingress protection rating. The coils are auto-balancing, which ensures maximum detection performance. Thanks to a 5.7” VGA color touch display featuring a three-level password, it is easy to access the settings on the detectors.
In operation, the conveyors supplied with the metal detectors transport boxes containing the product through the detection area. For convenience, the conveyor control panel is equipped with a start-stop switch as well as an emergency stop button.
The bags passing through metal detection weigh approximately 22lbs and are approximately 22” long by 14” wide by 8” high. The customer intends to process approximately 40 packs per minute through each metal detector in accordance with their production guidelines.

We supply many meTRON 07 Metal Detectors and this design was perfectly suited for this application.”
