Which Type of MagSlide® Magnetic Conveyor Does Your Metal Stamping Facility Need?
Metal stamping presents a tough, dirty, and unforgiving work environment. Many traditional conveyors struggle in this type of environment as their belts tear, jam, and wear out as a result of handling abrasive, oily materials day after day. Bunting has created an answer to this problem. Our MagSlide® magnetic chip conveyors have no external belts and no external moving parts, meaning that you can enjoy a dependable conveyor that won’t falter in the face of the adversity commonly found in the metal stamping industry. Even better, the MagSlide® is available in a huge range of configuration options, meaning you can select the perfect MagSlide® conveyor for your unique application. Bunting offers three categories of MagSlide® conveyor for the metal stamping industry: the Heavy-Duty MagSlide® Magnetic Chip Conveyor, the Medium-Duty MagSlide® Magnetic Chip Conveyor, and the MagSlide® Low-Profile Conveyor.
MagSlide® Conveyors require minimum maintenance and are ruggedly constructed to handle punishing metal stamping tasks.
By using magnetic conveying, even the dirtiest, most abrasive, most jagged, and most strangely shaped pieces of metal are easily held and transported to the MagSlide® conveyor’s surface. Additionally, the MagSlide® possesses continuous chain lubrication with an oil-impregnated UHMWPE SlideTrack™ and oil ports that allow extended chain service. All MagSlide® conveyors have multiple configuration options, including horizontal, incline, and angled models. They can be equipped with additional customization options including fixed and mobile bases, hoppers, tanks, impact plates, and other options.
Heavy-Duty MagSlide® Magnetic Chip Conveyors
Heavy-Duty MagSlide® Magnetic Chip Conveyors are ideal for metal stamping applications where ferrous material is being transferred at high volume. The Heavy-Duty MagSlide® moves material like small scrap, chips, and turnings from equipment such as stamping presses, mills, and lathes, or from metalworking operations such as slitting and forming. The Heavy-Duty MagSlide® is available in three options.
- Style A is usually placed under a large press in a horizontal configuration, carrying scrap to an inclined conveyor where it will then be deposited in a dumpster.
- Style B has a horizontal to incline design that transports scrap out from under a press and into a tote.
- Style C is a nose-over unit meant to extend over scrap dumpsters, and comes with optional side guards to help direct material.
Medium-Duty MagSlide® Magnetic Chip Conveyors
Medium-Duty MagSlide® Magnetic Chip Conveyors are horizontal to inclined conveyors that are best for removing small parts of ferrous scrap metal from various machining centers found within your metal stamping plant. The Medium-Duty MagSlide® is also available in three standard options.
- Style A is best suited for milling, machining, stamping, slitting, and forming tasks, and is a simple straight horizontal or inclined conveyor.
- Style B is a straight to inclined conveyor commonly used in conveying parts from a machine to a dumpster, but also often used in sealed submerged coolant applications or quenching applications that use coolant tanks.
- Style C, like style A, is recommended for milling, stamping, machining, slitting, and forming operations, and its straight horizontal to inclined design features top horizontal extensions that easily convey parts over a dumpster.
MagSlide® Low-Profile Conveyors
MagSlide® Low-Profile Conveyors are the answer to any metal stamping application where space is limited. Its design requires less than 4 inches of vertical clearance, and it fits easily under die presses and in the discharge zone of machine tools. It efficiently captures and moves light ferrous scrap in tight spaces.
