Animation

Permanent drum magnets continuously remove ferrous tramp metal from dry bulk materials without using electrical power. Material passes over a rotating non-magnetic shell while a stationary ferrite or rare earth magnetic element captures ferrous particles and carries them to a separate discharge point.

Radial pole designs provide a deep magnetic field for larger ferrous metal. Alternating pole designs repeatedly flip captured metal to release trapped product and improve separation quality.

Available with or without a housing, each drum can be configured for the material, feed method, burden depth, and required separation duty. Bunting can recommend the magnet material, pole configuration, drum size, magnetic arc, and splitter position for the application.

No Electrical Power Required: The permanent magnetic circuit operates without powered coils or controls.

Continuous Ferrous Removal: The rotating shell carries captured metal out of the product flow for automatic discharge.

Equipment Protection: Captures tramp metal before it reaches shredders, grinders, screens, and other downstream equipment.

Improved Product Purity: Radial or alternating pole configurations can target coarse, fine, or weakly magnetic ferrous contaminants.

Application-Specific Configuration: Ferrite or rare earth circuits, drum dimensions, pole layout, magnetic arc, and splitter position can be matched to the process.

Low Maintenance: The stationary magnetic element and mechanically driven shell simplify operation, with no coil cooling system required.

Durable Construction: A non-magnetic stainless steel shell and optional housing support demanding dry-material applications.

  • Magnet Options: Ferrite or high-intensity rare earth (neodymium)
  • Axial Field Configuration: Magnetic polarity runs along the drum width
  • Radial Field Configuration: Magnetic poles run vertically down the drum
  • Maximum Drum Diameter: Up to 1,500 mm (60 in.)
  • Maximum Drum Width: Up to 2,400 mm (96 in.)
  • Shell Material: Non-magnetic stainless steel
  • Magnetic Arc: Adjustable from 120 to 190 degrees
  • Housing: Available with or without a housing
  • Feed Methods: Gravity, belt, screw, or vibratory feed
