APPLICATION

Shredded Plastic Handling

CHALLENGE

Consistent material flow is essential in high-volume plastic processing.

Shredded plastic can be difficult to handle. Without controlled movement, material can back up, spill, and create unsafe conditions that slow production and increase pressure on operators.

The customer was already using a drag slide conveyor that provided steady, reliable movement of shredded plastics. It had become a critical part of the operation.

As production volumes increased, one system was no longer enough. The customer needed to expand capacity while maintaining the same level of performance, without introducing risk or disruption.

SOLUTION

Replicating a proven system removed uncertainty.

Bunting designed and supplied an exact duplicate of the existing drag slide conveyor, matching the original system in both performance and operation.

Because the system was already established on site, installation was straightforward and operators required no additional training.

The conveyor also included a rugged plate magnet to capture ferrous contaminants during conveying. This provided continuous protection for downstream equipment without affecting material flow.

SYSTEM DESIGN

The system was built for reliable, continuous operation.

The drag slide conveyor delivers controlled movement of shredded plastics in a demanding, high-volume environment.

By duplicating the original design, the customer benefited from:

  • Consistent and predictable performance
  • Simple integration into the existing line
  • No changes to operating procedures

RESULT

Increased capacity with the same trusted performance.

With the second conveyor in place, the customer improved material flow while maintaining safe and efficient operation.

The integrated plate magnet ensured reliable removal of ferrous contamination, helping protect downstream equipment and reduce maintenance requirements.

By repeating a proven solution, the customer expanded production with confidence and avoided the risks associated with new system design.

WHY IT MATTERS

Proven systems can be the fastest way to scale.

When equipment is already performing reliably, duplicating that solution can deliver increased capacity without added complexity. In high-volume operations, this approach reduces risk, minimizes downtime, and maintains consistent performance.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is a drag slide conveyor used for?

A drag slide conveyor is used to move difficult materials like shredded plastics in a controlled and enclosed manner. It helps prevent material spillage, reduces dust, and ensures consistent flow in high-volume processing environments.

2. How do you handle shredded plastic in recycling operations?

Shredded plastic is best handled using equipment that provides controlled, steady movement. Systems like drag slide conveyors prevent buildup, reduce blockages, and improve safety by minimizing loose or unstable material flow.

3. Why is consistent material flow important in plastic processing?

Inconsistent material flow can cause backups, spills, and equipment strain, leading to downtime and safety risks. Maintaining steady flow improves efficiency, protects equipment, and ensures smooth operation across the entire processing line.

4. Why is consistent material flow important in plastic processing?

Inconsistent material flow can cause backups, spills, and equipment strain, leading to downtime and safety risks. Maintaining steady flow improves efficiency, protects equipment, and ensures smooth operation across the entire processing line.
